Job Description
LIMS Software Engineer (Remote) - Eastern Time
Bioinformatics organization seeks a Remote Software Engineer (ideally with LabVantage but not required) to design, develop, and maintain full-stack software applications while supporting operational information processing lab tests. Ideal candidate will function within operational team to ensure optimization of workflows and software, while building next generation ops tools, using a combination of technologies to include LabVantage LIMS.

The opportunity to work on a full SDLC of LabVantage LIMS, most recent version 8.8.
A 1099 or W2 with/without benefits contract.
REQUIREMENTS
BS Degree in Computer Sciences or similar area.
5+ years overall software development experience with a preference for building complex data and process management applications within production.
Expertise in object-oriented programming in Java, with a preference for using open-source framework to include Spring or Hibernate.
Expertise within web services (ex. REST), XML, JSON, and Oracle, or other relational databases.
Demonstrated teamwork skills with a solid analytical background, excellent communications and a comfort for asking for assistance when needed.
Expertise configuring or developing LabVantage or other LIMS is a nice to have.
Expertise in the customization and configuration of off-the-shelf LIMS products in the support of order to results workflows is also desired but not required.
Experience in front-end web programming, with a preference for modern JavaScript frameworks (reach or angular)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with users and stakeholders, while gathering and defining requirements.
Translating these requirements into extensive and reliable operational friendly applications through the utilization of Java.
Working with engineering team in making key technical and design implementation decisions.
Ensuring a holistic view regarding processes and various systems, taking patient samples from order to results, within a multi-product clinical laboratory.
Ensuring thorough understanding of LIMS platform and features to propose new solutions that present trade-off analysis and ensure the best utilization of the platform.
Leveraging existing system functionality as much as possible so that development resources can focus on unmet project needs.
Integrating other enterprise systems and services in the creation of seamless business processes.
Improving development procedures and processes while evangelizing best practices.
Developing and maintaining automation tests while providing Tier II production support.
