Front-End Developer
This position will be a design centric front-end developer on the Digital Experience team. At the core of digital competency is the design system which allows for familiar consumer experiences across a wide variety of digital products (native, web, voice, text, chatbot). This front end developer role will work alongside the UI/UX designers to create multi-channel consumer first digital health care products. The role will work on a team that aggressively adopts modern web technologies such as HTML5 web components and JavaScript frameworks to create a system used by multiple product development teams. Builds, documents and champions the UI patterns that drive our platform applications. This role will architect and implement a web-based design system for Banner Health. Work in the Digital Business team with UI/UX designers, BA’s, product strategy owners. Enforce code quality through test-driven development. Document implementation best-practices and component usage guidelines. Participate and drive a lean product development process: ship early and often, measure and iterate. Provide integration consulting to software development teams consuming design system markup/front end code - (code reviews and dev ops).

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve services, processes or products.
2. Solves complex problems. Takes a broad perspective including coordination with others outside own work unit, to identify innovative solutions.
3. Anticipates customer needs; assesses requirements and identifies new solutions. Interacts primarily with department and cross-department peers, supervisor, customers, peers’ managers, patients and physicians.
4. Makes decisions guided by policies in non- standard situation. Impacts the achievement of operational, project or service objectives. Monitors and controls costs of own work and may manage budgets for moderate sized projects or programs.
Three to five years of experience as a web developer. Experience or have built, shipped and maintained multiple web applications. Strong experience in traditional HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Responsive front-end web development. Solid experience in JavaScript app development, both with and without third party frameworks. Experience working in a lean agile environment. Strong multi-discipline collaboration skills are a must. Experience in Github, JIRA, Slack, InVision

Knowledge of HTML5 web components. Familiarity with Angular, node.js, Boostrap, material.io important. Working knowledge of Sketch and/or Adobe XD preferred.

Responsibilities:
1. Drive innovation on the development side of the design team, generating ideas and leading in the creation, grooming, and distribution of the design system, including adopting new best practices for front end languages.
2. Collaboration with software engineers for the integration, implementation, and hand-off of front-end code. Use forward thinking strategy for innovation in the management and distribution of code.
3. Develop an accessibility-centric approach for all content used on the design team, in tandem with the UI/UX designer whose role includes setting accessibility standards.
4. Create new project codebases and project-specific trainings to be used by other design system developers on the team.
5. Review all code generated by other front end developer members of the design team, provide feedback, and pull request approval for shared repositories.
6. Responsible for general mentorship, delegating project tasks, planning meetings, and assisting with code errors and problems with other design system developers.
7. Continuing education on integrating the design system into any project type, like Angular, .NET Core, as the development technology and industry changes.
